• Board Member Profile: Emily Kitts, Naughty Oak Brewing Co.

The Santa Maria Chamber begins their new fiscal year July 1, 2019. With it, new Chamber Board members are welcomed in to replace those who have served their term limits. We'll be profiling some of those new board members, who can serve up to two 3-year terms on the Chamber Board of Directors.

Your name and title: Emily Kitts, co-owner and quality manager at Naughty Oak Brewing Co.

What made you want to join the Santa Maria Chamber Board of Directors? I hope that I can find meaningful and important ways to give back to a community that has welcomed our small business with so much enthusiasm.

What do you hope to accomplish while on the board? I'd love to see the Santa Maria Valley area unify and work together even more. It's great to see the areas of Santa Maria, Guadalupe and Orcutt all working together and lifting one another up as the entire Santa Maria Valley. Hopefully that can continue even further and that connection will grow.

Why do you feel it’s important for business leaders to get involved in the local community? When business leaders work together, everyone wins. We wouldn't be anywhere without a strong local community, so its only natural to do our part to give back.

Any additional thoughts you have? It takes a village and there is power in numbers! We live in an amazing place and as our area grows, we should keep it amazing. Having more voices, more community leaders and business leaders involved can help ensure that our area grows with intention and purpose and remains wonderful.
