    Book Club over the Phone


    The City of Santa Maria Public Library is pleased to announce its next Book Club over the Phone. The teleconference call will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4th.

    Patrons who are interested in participating in Book Club over the Phone should email jgaytan@cityofsantamaria.org with their name and phone number to be included in the teleconference phone call. Patrons may also provide their information over the telephone by calling (805) 925-0994.

    The book for the Month of August is When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi. The memoir is broken into two parts; the first part details Paul’s years in medical school and his first years of being a doctor. The latter half of the book focuses on Paul’s battle with stage IV lung cancer.

    The Santa Maria Public Library and branches are closed until further notice due to the Local Health Emergency declared by the County. While closed, the Library offers sidewalk pickup, 24/7 digital resources including downloadable eBooks, movies, magazines, and audiobooks. Online databases, email reference service, veterans’ resources, updates about the Library closure and more are available online at  www.cityofsantamaria.org/Library.  Patrons may also apply for a free Library card online.
