    Business Reopening Plan

The City of Santa Maria and Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce are supporting steps to safely reopen society and the local economy in phases.  The timetable and restrictions will be decided by the County’s Public Health Officer, depending on discretion from the Governor.

Business owners in Santa Maria should begin to plan and prepare for reopening during this COVID-19 pandemic, using these guidelines.  The City is now in early Stage 2. The Public Health Officer will make the final determination on the guidelines that will be presented to the County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, May 19th and go into effect once the Governor lifts his order.

The RISE Guide, or Reopening In Safe Environment, is available for public review and feedback at ReadySBC.org under "COVID-19: RecoverySBC."

Logistical support guidelines for reopening businesses are available on the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce website, at www.santamaria.com/COVID19-Recovery.

The reopening approach is broken down into four phases, each with public health criteria for moving to and from phases:

    • Stage 1: Safety & Preparedness
    • Stage 2: Lower Risk Workplaces
    • Stage 3: Higher Risk Workplaces
    • Stage 4: End of Stay-at-Home Order

The RISE Guide, according to the County, is supported by feedback from many sectors of the community to create a science-based framework for residents, businesses and organizations by which to reopen in a staged manner, while prioritizing public health and protecting the most vulnerable populations.
