• City of Santa Maria modifies sign regulations as part of local emergency proclamation

The City yesterday proclaimed the existence of a local emergency.  Pursuant to the Proclamation of Emergency the City is providing for certain additional temporary sign flexibility.

For the duration of the declared disaster for the City of Santa Maria, businesses providing essential services and necessities, such as pharmacies, grocery stores, restaurants, are waived from temporary signage requirements, for the purpose of communicating information regarding hours of operation, including special hours for seniors and other designated groups, updates to inventory and service availability, occupancy requirements and other accommodations. The types of temporary signage allowed will be in accordance with the City’s temporary sign ordinance, except “A-Frame” signs can be used at designated curb-side pick-up locations while the disaster declaration is in place.
