    Free Bus Passes for Teens

The City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department, the Mayor’s Task Force on Youth Safety, and the Santa Maria Area Transit are granting free 31-day bus passes to Santa Maria students in 7th through 12th grades. Recipients of benefit programs, including students that receive free or reduced school lunches, are eligible for a pass. Passes are available at the Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center, located at 600 South McClelland Street. Students must be accompanied by their parents or guardians to apply.

The Youth Adventure Pass resulted from students petitioning the Mayor’s Task Force on Youth Safety for free and low-cost transportation for youth. The Task Force continues its efforts to mitigate students’ gang-involvement and prevent youth violence with recreational activities and the delivery of specialized services and resources to youth in Santa Maria.

Questions about the Mayor’s Task Force on Youth Safety and the Youth Adventure Pass may be directed to the Recreation and Parks Department at (805) 925-0951 ext. 2260.
