Local cancer patients receive the gift of fresh produce

CENTRAL COAST, CA – May 3, 2020 – For local patients, cancer does not stop in a time of pandemic. With many patients having limited options for fresh produce, Babé Farms stepped up to offer a wide array of freshly picked vegetables to patients at Mission Hope Cancer Center in Santa Maria.

In partnership with Fresh Bounty and Gold Coast Packing, Babé Farms donated more than 100 boxes of fresh produce to Marian Cancer Care patients on April 27, 2020. The gesture of feeding our patients is a selfless one from this family owned and operated outfit. Known for their wide array of colorful specialty lettuce, root vegetables, and salad blends, the generous family style business contributes value to the lives of their longtime employees and now to local cancer patients.

“As longtime members of this community, we have seen firsthand the amazing impact that Dignity Health and Mission Hope have had on Santa Maria and California as a whole,” said owner of Babé Farms, Judy Lundberg-Wafer. “We were honored to support the medical community that has always been there for us, our friends, and our neighbors.”

With so many lives impacted by cancer, each patient is unique and their treatment plan at Mission Hope Cancer Center is fashioned to their specific situation. Through this encouragement to stay healthy and eat well, the contribution of Babé Farms to the betterment of patients is greatly appreciated by many in Santa Maria.
