  • Governor Provides Updated Industry Sector Reopening Guidance - October 20, 2020

    The State of California has provided updated industry guidance for reopening in accordance with their tiered reopening model. And outline of these updates is listed below. The full details of the industry sector reopening by tiers can be found here.
     

    New Guidance:
    • Amusement Parks and Theme Parks 
      • Provides guidance for amusement parks and theme parks (referred to as “amusement parks”) to support a safe, clean environment for workers and customers. Businesses must identify and monitor the County Risk Level for the county the business is operating in and make required adjustments to their operations. 
        • Tier language included and specifies that small parks can open in Tier 3 and large parks in Tier 4 with modifications. 
          • Includes capacity restrictions, modifications, travel restrictions, and advanced reservations.
    • Movie Theaters 
      • Provides guidance for movie theater operators to support a safe, clean environment for workers and customers. Businesses must identify and monitor the County Risk Level for the county the business is operating in and make required adjustments to their operations.
      • Includes Tiers with capacity restrictions and modifications.
    • Professional sports 
      • Provides guidance for the outdoor operations of stadiums and racetracks during live, professional sporting events to support a safe, clean environment for workers and guests. Businesses must identify and monitor the County Risk Level for the county the business is operating in and make required adjustments to their operations.
        • Include Tier language with live audiences permitted starting in Tier 3 with capacity restrictions, modifications, ticket sales restricted geographically, parking mandate, concessions delivered, and advanced reservations.
     
    Revised Guidance:
    • Family Entertainment Centers 
      • Added Tiers language. 
        • Include single amusement rides (e.g., carousel, Ferris wheel, etc.), ice and roller skating, outdoor laser tag, and outdoor paintball.
      • Removed movie theaters and climbing walls .
      • Added language regarding ventilation. 
    • Gyms and fitness centers 
      • Added Tiers language. 
        • Added climbing walls and opened outdoor hot tubs in all tiers with modifications.
      • Added language regarding ventilation.
    • Personal Care Services 
      • Revised Tier language. 
        • Opens all Expanded Personal care services indoor in Tier 1.
    • Hair salons and barbershops 
      • Added language regarding ventilation.
    • Hotels, Lodging, and Short-Term Lodging Rentals 
      • Added Tiers language. 
        • Included fitness centers.
        • Opened outdoor hot tubs in all tiers with modifications.
      • Added language regarding ventilation.
    • Shopping Centers 
      • Added Tier language.
      • Removed note about cancelling or postponing all public events or concentrated gatherings, including musical or other performances at shopping centers
      • Added language regarding ventilation.
    • Museums, zoos, and aquariums 
      • Added Tiers language. 
        • Indoor operations open in Tier 2 with capacity restrictions and modifications.
      • Added language regarding ventilation.
    • Public / private transit and intercity rail 
      • Revised to include language specific to Blueprint for a safer Economy.
      • Added language regarding ventilation.
    • Limited services 
      • Revised to include language specific to Blueprint for a safer Economy.
      • Added language regarding ventilation.
    • Retail  
      • Added Tier language.
