Hope in the Mail at the Santa Maria Public Library

Please join the City of Santa Maria Public Library in welcoming award-winning author Wendelin Van Draanen to Shepard Hall on Saturday, January 18th at 1:00 p.m. for an inspiring author discussion about her life and her new book, Hope in the Mail, Reflections on Writing and Life.   The talk will be followed by a book signing.

Wendelin is the best-selling author of over 30 novels, including the renowned Sammy Keyes mystery series, Wild Bird, and two that were produced as films:  Warner Brothers feature Flipped, and Nickelodeon TV movie Shredderman Rules.

Now, Wendelin is telling her own story in her first non-fiction book, Hope in the Mail, Reflections on Writing and Life.  Wendelin says the purpose of this book is, “to help people find ways to pursue the things that really matter to them.  Life and adult responsibilities tend to shove our creative pursuits to the back of the line.  They don’t belong there.”

Part memoir, part craft guide, and part publishing insight, Hope in the Mail is suitable for teen and adult audiences, especially those who want to write.

    The Library’s hours are 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sundays, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Questions may be directed to the Library’s Reference desk, (805) 925-0994.
