    New Library Electronic Resources Available

The City of Santa Maria Public Library has added two new electronic learning resources for children and students.  The resources are free, and accessible from the Library’s website with a library card.

Infobase Just for Kids is a new streaming service of over 9,000 educational and entertaining videos.  Selections are kid safe and age-appropriate for children, featuring many familiar characters and well-known series.  The videos include captioned and interactive transcripts, as well as full language support on all descriptions, transcripts, and navigation. To access this resource, visit the Library’s website and click on, Using the Library, then Downloadable Materials.

ProQuest is a database offering guided research, citation generators, learning resources, reference solutions and e-books.  Access to this extensive database is provided by the California State Library. From the Library’s website, click on the Youth Services or Research pages for access.

The Santa Maria Public Library’s main library, Guadalupe, Los Alamos, and Cuyama  branches are open for sidewalk pick-up service, and the Orcutt library and the Bookmobile are open for Grab and Go service. Other in-person services are closed due to the Local Health Emergency declared by the County.  The Library also offers 24/7 digital resources including downloadable eBooks, movies, magazines, and audiobooks. Online databases and programs, email reference service, veterans’ resources, updates about the Library’s operations and more are available online at www.cityofsantamaria.org/Library.  Patrons may also apply for a free Library card online.

Questions may be directed to the Youth Services desk (805) 925-0994.
