  • Public Invited to Green Business Program Luncheon 2020 Event Honoring Certified Green Businesses

    Businesses that have achieved certification during the past year as “green” businesses from the Green Business Program of Santa Barbara County (GBPSBC) will be honored on Thursday, March 5, 2020 during a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hotel Corque, located at 400 Alisal Road in Solvang.  The cost of the luncheon is $45.00 per person, if the registration and payment are received by February 24th, or $55.00 per person for registrations and payments received after that date.

    Sarah Palladino, Community Relations Manager and Culture Steward, with Toad & Co, a certified Green Business, will serve as the keynote speaker.  She will be joined by Kyle Boettcher, Vice President of Product & Design.  Toad & Co is a Santa Barbara-based sustainable clothing company with storefronts across the country.  Their goal is to clean up a dirty apparel industry, educate people on sustainable practices, and inspire everyone to live our fullest lives.     We will also be joined by Josephine Fleming, who serves as Executive Director for the California Green Business Network.     The GBPSBC is a public/private partnership providing incentives, support, and recognition to participating businesses that implement sound environmental management practices and are superior environmental stewards.  Since its inception in 2008, the GBPSBC has helped over 150 local businesses and organizations save money and protect, preserve, and improve the environment.  At this year’s Luncheon, over two dozen local businesses will be recognized for becoming “green” certified businesses.  Currently, businesses in the following sectors are eligible to apply for certification:  general office/retail stores, restaurants, hotels, automotive shops, multi-family residential complexes, breweries, small manufacturers, and schools.  Other sectors will be added in the future based on available resources, demand, and community interest.
