• Regional Efforts Critical for Continued Growth

    Sue Anderson
    President, Marian Regional Medical Center

As the President of Marian Regional Medical Center, our entities expand through both Counties. We are the largest employer in the area and draw employees from throughout Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties.  We take care of patients from throughout the two Counties.  We are a regional referral center and trauma center and want to be an active part in both Counties that we provide services to.

Santa Maria is the largest city in Santa Barbara County and continues to grow.  As we can see from traffic flow, many who work in San Luis Obispo County live in Santa Maria.  We need to work together to do what is good for the entire region, not just one community.

Housing and job growth are issues throughout the Counties. Our employees need to have housing that they can afford or a wage that pays them enough to live in the region.  As we develop and expand our healthcare services, and recruit new physicians and staff to the area, we need to have good schools and childcare for their children and good jobs for those that move with them.

We are so fortunate to live in the beautiful Central Coast and by working together to keep and grow businesses in the area, while developing areas for families to thrive, we can continue to keep our area desirable for generations to come.

Sue Anderson is the President of Marian Regional Medical Center, and also sits on the board for REACH (Hourglass Project).
