  • Santa Maria Valley Chamber Welcomes David Hernandez as Hispanic Business Outreach and Service Representative

The Santa Maria Valley Chamber is excited to welcome David Hernandez to the Chamber staff as the new Hispanic Business Outreach and Service Representative. In this newly created position, David will assist the Chamber in improving engagement with, and services to, Hispanic-owned businesses.

“As a catalyst, convener and champion for our local community, we recognize the importance in meeting the needs of all businesses in the Santa Maria Valley,” explained Glenn Morris, President/CEO for the Santa Maria Valley Chamber. “We are excited to have David join our staff and help the Chamber better engage with the local Hispanic business community.”

David will split his time between direct Hispanic business outreach, and supporting the Economic Development Collaborative’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in expanding services to businesses in Northern Santa Barbara County.

“We see a lot of value in this new partnership with the SBDC because of the overlap in the work David will do for both organizations,” Morris said. “Not only will this strengthen our relationships with our local business community, it will also help more businesses take advantage of the specific services available through the SBDC and other partners.”

David grew up in LA County and has lived in the Santa Maria Valley for 5 years. His background is in sales, specifically targeting the Hispanic market in addition to military and first responders.

“Growing up in L.A. County, the Hispanic community showed the importance of local involvement and investing in the people,” Hernandez said. “I have always been a strong supporter of organizations like the Chamber of Commerce that help businesses and the local community. I look forward to connecting with our local business community and providing the resources they need for continued success.”

When he’s not working, David enjoys spending time outdoors with my family and friends. A veteran himself, David enjoys assisting the military and veteran community and is a member of a number of military organizations including the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

“Seeing the cultural diversity come together to celebrate what the Central Coast has to offer is one of my favorite things about living in Santa Maria,” Hernandez said. “Working with the Chamber, I hope to make a positive impact with the local Hispanic community by empowering and strengthen their economic development and growth.”
