    Stop the Bleed Zoom presentation at the Library


    The City of Santa Maria Public Library is pleased to partner with Safety Consulting Services, LLC, to offer a free Stop the Bleed presentation through Zoom video conferencing at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17th. 

    Scott Hunter, retired firefighter, and certified Emergency Medical Technician, will lead the presentation teaching patrons to Stop the Bleed by learning how to become “Immediate Responders.” Stop the Bleed teaches laypersons how to control major bleeding from traumatic situations using direct pressure, wound packing, and applying tourniquets. 

    Patrons who are interested in attending the Stop the Bleed video conference presentation should email jgaytan@cityofsantamaria.org with their name and phone number. Patrons may also provide their information over the telephone by calling (805) 925-0994.

    The Santa Maria Public Library’s main library, and the Guadalupe, Los Alamos, and Cuyama  branches are open for sidewalk pick-up service, and as of October 19th the Orcutt Library and Bookmobile are open for Grab and Go service. Other in-person services are closed due to the Local Health Emergency declared by the County. The Library also offers 24/7 digital resources including downloadable eBooks, movies, magazines, and audiobooks. Online databases and programs, email reference service, veterans’ resources, updates about the Library’s operations and more are available online at   www.cityofsantamaria.org/Library.  Patrons may also apply for a free Library card online.
