The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Santa Barbara based Central Coast RBS will be hosting a AB1221 Mandated Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification Course on February 8th, 2022.
We will be offering 2 session options:
Session 1 is from 8am – 12pm
Session 2 is from 1pm to 4pm.
Prior to class, each attendee will need to register with ABC as an alcohol server at https://abcbiz.abc.ca.gov/ and pay the $3 ABC server registration fee.
Once you register you will be issued an ABC Server Identification Number which you will need in order to complete your registration.
This course will feature the new AB1221 mandated RBS training curriculum from ABC. All alcohol servers and managers (over 1,000,000 statewide) MUST be certified under the new law by July 1,2022 by registering with ABC as an alcohol server/manager, completing the new course from an approved provider and passing the new online standardized ABC certifying exam within 30 days of taking the course.
There is no longer a separate supervisor/manager course. Under the new law, anyone who takes alcoholic beverage orders, pours alcohol, serves/delivers alcohol or checks ID for entry or alcohol service (bouncers/security) as well as anyone who supervises, manages, trains or hires the above must be certified.
This course will be tailored for employees and managers involved in the service of alcohol in Santa Barbara County. The course covers all the new mandated course topics while focusing on the everyday issues employees and managers face including the identification of fake ID's and the fraudulent use of real ID's by minors, strategies for preventing guests from becoming overly intoxicated and refusing service to those that are.
The course is four hours in duration and is taught by a Santa Barbara local with 25 years of law enforcement experience.
Electronic certification will be issued by ABC upon successful completion of the course and a passing grade on the standardized ABC online exam within 30 days of course completion.
NO REGISTRATIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE AFTER FEBRUARY 6th, 2022.
The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department requires everyone 2 years of age and older to wear a mask in all indoor public settings, venues, gatherings, and public and private businesses, regardless of their vaccination status. We ask that everyone continues to follow the Santa Barbara County Public Health mask mandate guidelines, and remain mindful and respectful of other individuals' preferences when it comes to public gatherings.
