The Chambers in Santa Barbara County are hosting a zoom roundtable meeting to discuss a County proposal that would allow microenterprise home kitchen operations (MHKO) to be permitted within all areas of Santa Barbara County. MHKOs that meet required food safety conditions would be able to obtain a health permit from EHS to store, handle, and prepare a limited number of meals for customers (dine in, take out, or delivery) from a permitted home kitchen location. We encourage our local restaurant members to join us to discuss this proposed ordinance and provide feedback that we can give to the County.
The County Board of Supervisors has set a public hearing on May 11, 2021 to further consider an Ordinance that would amend Santa Barbara County Code to allow Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operations as a new type of food business in the county.
