SUMMARY:9th Annual Nat Fast Free Children's Arts Day
DESCRIPTION:Local children and their families are invited to paint\, draw\, sing\, and dance with professional artists Sunday\, January 27\, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Discovery Museum's 9th annual Nat Fast Children's Arts Day\, a free community event celebrating the arts and the legacy of local artist Nat Fast. \n\n\n\nThis year's Nat Fast Day will include performances by a string trio from the Santa Maria Philharmonic Society\, folkl rico dancers from Righetti High School\, and teachers from Mini Melodies\, a local Music Together early education program. Laura-Susan Thomas\, former Disney Imagineer and Allan Hancock College professor\, will lead an eclectic painting project with liquid watercolors\, and professional illustrator Irene Flores will teach children how to draw comics and magazines.\n\n\n\nIn the Central Coast Makerspace\, Discovery Museum staff will be showing children how to make foam sculptures out of shampoo and other household materials. More projects throughout the day include marble painting\, glitter tattoos\, and making chalk art with local artists.
