About Us

The Friends of the Santa Maria Public Library is the non-profit support group dedicated to the growth and development of the Santa Maria Public Library and to reading in our community. The Frends raise funds for materials, programs and services that would otherwise not be provided.
The Friends do this by inspiring interest and enthusiasm for providing financial support to the library. We invite private individuals, businesses, foundations, and other grant-giving organizations to join us.
The Friends endeavor to preserve and strengthen the importance of our Library in our community as a vital, irreplaceable source of information, education and culture - thereby providing everyone with opportunities and resources for lifelong learning.
The Friends operate a used bookstore, ''The Library Shop,'' in the Santa Maria Town Center Mall East.
