2021 Summer Reading Program: Reading Colors Your World

The City of Santa Maria Public Library is excited to offer the 2021 Summer Reading Program: Reading Colors Your World, running now through July 31.  There is a special reading program for every age level from toddlers to adults. Each program offers activities and challenges as well as prizes for reading, based on age level. Drawings for additional prizes will occur at the end of the summer.

Prizes for kids and teens include a free book, summer swag, and an entry into a grand drawing at the end of the summer for an Amazon gift card or Kindle tablet.  Adult prizes include a free book, and an entry into a grand prize drawing. For information, go online to www.cityofsantamaria.org/summerReading.
Participants may sign up at any Santa Maria Public Library location.  Adults may sign up at the second floor Information Desk at the Main Library, while families, children, and teens may sign up on the first floor in Youth Services.  At branch locations in Orcutt, Cuyama, Guadalupe or Los Alamos, all participants may sign up at the service desk. Participants may also sign up online at www.cityofsantamaria.beanstack.org
National research from Dominican University found that students who participate in public library reading programs scored higher on reading achievement tests at the beginning of the next school than those that did not participate.
