• Community Broadband Needs Assessment: Entities

For the past few years, EconAlliance has served as Santa Barbara County liaison to the tri-county Broadband Consortium Pacific Coast (Consortium), working cooperatively with the Consortium first to enhance broadband in Northern Santa Barbara County.

In early 2020, EconAlliance conceptualized the “Northern Santa Barbara County Fiber Ring” and has since been actively seeking funding to accelerate development of the Fiber Ring. Part of this effort involves building awareness of grant and other funding opportunities and part of it involves making the case for the need for the Fiber Ring. To be sure that local, area, countywide and regional support organizations, as well as cities, the County and others have the data they need to be successful in seeking funding to enhance broadband in their areas along the proposed Fiber Ring, EconAlliance is stepping forward to perform broadband needs assessments, first for our area’s Opportunity Zones, but ultimately for all of Northern Santa Barbara County.

Your input is valuable, as it will be analyzed with other input about broadband needs and will be made available to any entity applying for funding to enhance Northern Santa Barbara County connectivity. We encourage you or an appropriate IT contact in your organization to complete the following survey by November 1st, to enable us to share the information later in October with all Northern Santa Barbara County entities that may wish to apply for broadband funding before the end of the year. This survey is available online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Broadband-Entities.

Hard copies may be scanned and emailed to initiatives@EconAlliance.org, or mailed to EconAlliance, 540 E. Betteravia Rd., #D234, Santa Maria, CA 93454. For questions about this survey, contact initiatives@EconAlliance.org.
