Downtown Streetscape Plan moving forward to Public Hearings
Santa Marians are encouraged to participate in two public hearings in December and January about the design concepts for Main Street and Broadway in the downtown core. Meetings about the Downtown Multimodal Streetscape (DMS) Plan will be held in the City Council Chambers, 110 East Cook Street at these times and dates:
City Planning Commission: 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 5th.
    City Council: 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019.
The plan covers the area shown in this map.
An inclusive, community-driven approach over the past two years confirmed the community’s desires for the future look and feel of the downtown streets of Santa Maria. More than 780 participants responded. The plan revolves around the theme of enhanced safety and beautification of Broadway and Main Street, such as wider sidewalks/crosswalks, better lighting, bicycle facilities, and slower car/truck traffic, and landscaping and street trees.
The plan is posted on the City’s website at www.cityofsantamaria.org/downtown. Questions may be directed to the Community Development Department, (805) 925-0951 extension 2444.
