• Join Masked & Mighty to Power Up Santa Barbara County to Stop the Spread of COVID-19: Oct 26 - Nov 7

To launch the Masked and Mighty coalition we have created Power Up Santa Barbara County, an event running from October 26-November 7, 2021. Several Landmark buildings, County buildings, healthcare facilities, Schools, Universities and businesses throughout Santa Barbara County will be powering up with brightly colored exterior lighting to demonstrate our unified county-wide commitment to adhering to safety precautions to reduce the spread of infection.

We are inviting business and residents to join us and Power Up Santa Barbara County with exterior or entryway lighting in the color of your choice beginning October 26 through November 7.

Colored lightbulbs, flood lights, clamp lights, stake lights, and other options are stocked at Santa Barbara Home Improvement Center, Goleta Home Depot, Lompoc Home Depot, Lowe’s in Santa Maria, and Miner’s Ace Hardware in Nipomo. A fun and safe alternative to trick or treating for Halloween, families are encouraged to drive by the Powered Up buildings and businesses and take/post pictures on the Masked & Mighty Facebook Page and Instagram account, with hashtag #maskedandmighty.

Participating locations include: Cottage Hospitals in Santa Barbara, Goleta and Santa Ynez Valley, CenCal Health, Sansum Clinic, UCSB Henley Gate, County buildings and others.  Please join us by lighting up your business to show your support for the Masked and Mighty in our communities.

Please email Christopher Williams at cwilliam@sansumclinic.org if you plan to participate so we can include the name of your business and your address on our map and website, so people can drive by when they venture out to view the lights.

Submit Your Masked & Mighty 30-Second Videos
The Masked & Mighty Coalition invites you to participate in our 30-second video series to encourage residents of Santa Barbara County to follow safety guidelines to reduce the COVID-19 infection rate.  In light of our new online environment, we are producing the PSAs virtually, by asking community members to record their messages in English or Spanish on a mobile device and send them to us to be shared as part of the campaign.  Videos will appear on our social media channels and possibly in a PSA on KEYT or Telemundo.

Please review the script ideas and self-tape guidelines attached (Español).  The only rules for this are that your 30-second (or so) message needs to be positive and not political.  DUE DATE:  Monday, November 16.
