    In honor of National Veterans and Military Families Month (November), the City of Santa Maria Public Library is pleased to announce its participation in Operation Paperback. Operation Paperback is a national non-profit organization that collects gently used books for troops overseas, veterans, and military families around the country. Donations will be collected through the month of November. The Library is located on 421 South McClelland Street.
     
    The Library will have a drop-off box next to the Veterans Connect Desk on the second floor where patrons can donate their gently used books. The genres most requested are action-adventure, fantasy, horror, mystery, and science-fiction. Nonfiction works like biographies, memoirs, history, and true crime are also highly sought after.

    The Santa Maria Public Library’s main Library, branch Libraries and Bookmobile are open in accordance with the local health emergency declared by the County.  Passport services are available by appointment at the main Library. The Library also offers 24/7 digital resources including downloadable eBooks, movies, magazines, and audiobooks.  Online databases and programs, email reference service, veterans’ resources, updates about the Library’s operations and more are available online at www.cityofsantamaria.org/Library. Patrons may also apply for a free Library card online.
