The technology behind designing (and solving) escape rooms
Escape rooms are far more than just a passing fad. They challenge us, get us offline, and bring us together. As the popularity has exploded - the quality, sophistication, and overall experience have been enhanced through the novel use of both old & new technology. Escape room design is a constantly changing environment and the technology to support an escape room needs to adapt as well.
Will Ruoff is the founder and creator of The Lock Boxx, a mobile escape room based in Los Osos. He has been in operation for just over a year and has been challenged from design through implementation with starting a successful mobile escape room, one that is unlike anything currently on the market.
How does he come up with new challenges? What are the common elements to successful puzzle solvers share? What are the thought processes and strategies he recommends? How is technology helping he and other ‘room designers’ create more challenging rooms? What might escape rooms of the future look like?
I’ve also asked Will to share a bit about what it took to get his company off the ground, challenges he’s faced, and the opportunities for the future.
Whether or not you are a fan of escape rooms (yet), this is certain to be a fun and interesting topic to learn more about.
