We recently welcomed Urbane Cafe to the Santa Maria Valley Chamber and the Santa Maria community with a ribbon cutting! Located at 655 E. Betteravia Rd. in Santa Maria, the newly opened restaurant serves up freshly made sandwiches, salads and soups.
“Urbane Cafe is a fast, casual restaurant,” explained Christi Christian, Director of Marketing & Sales for Urbane Cafe. “and what makes us so unique is we make all our focaccia bread fresh on site, from scratch. All of our sandwiches are made on the bread, and our salads all come with a slice of the bread.”
What’s even more impressive is that no sandwich at Urbane Cafe is ever made on bread more than an hour old. “If the bread is more than an hour old, it gets made into croutons for our salads,” explained Christian. “You’re guaranteed to get something really fresh whenever you come to our restaurant.”
The Santa Maria location will be the 14th location Urbane Cafe has opened in California. The business started in 2003 in Ventura, and remains family owned and operated.
“We really enjoy being a part of the communities we open up in,” Christian said.
On Friday, January 19, the cafe will serve free lunch and dinner, with 100% of proceeds going to Delta High School and the Boys & Girls clubs of Santa Maria Valley. Lunch will be served 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and dinner from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.To celebrate their grand opening, the restaurant is hosting a variety of events in the local community. Their pre-opening celebrations will give back to local charities in Santa Maria.
On Saturday, January 20th, Urbane cafe will offer lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with 100% of those proceeds going to the Special Olympics.
“The owners match all the donations we receive from the pre-opening celebrations, which is really exciting,” Christian said. “And it’s awesome that all that money stays right here in Santa Maria, giving back to your local community.”
The official Grand Opening of Urbane Cafe will be Monday, January 22nd, and will be celebrated with a week of specials. More information can be found on their facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/UrbaneCafeSantaMaria/.
Christian said her favorite part of her job is working for a company that really cares about the community they reside in. “Urbane Cafe doesn’t feel like another chain or corporate place. We really care about the community and I love meeting everyone here locally and being able to give back, and really get involved and get to know Santa Maria,” Christian said. “We’re excited to open up here, and so far the response has been really incredible from everyone.”
