• The California State Trade Expansion Program

The California State Trade Expansion Program “STEP” is designed to offer financial assistance for exporting activities to eligible California small businesses in pre-selected International Trade Shows, Trade Missions, or the STEP Export Voucher (previously known as the Individual Company Export Promotion program or ICEP) which reimburses for eligible export-promotion-related expenses.

Eligible California businesses can receive up to $10,000 to offset 75% of approved expenses via the Export Voucher Program and participate in up to two (2) STEP Events during the federal fiscal year period of October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2023. Please note, that we anticipate a high volume of applications during Round 1 and Round 2.  Depending on if funding is available or the volume of applications received, application periods may be extended.

Eligibility and guidelines for The California State Trade Expansion Program can be found here

The Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) is thrilled to announce that the California STEP Program is back and is now fully overseen and administered exclusively by the GO-Biz International Affairs and Trade team.

GO-Biz will provide free training to California small businesses alongside federal, state, private, and non-profit organizations by conducting practical webinars that guide eligible California small businesses through the STEP grant portal and instructional materials that help guide successful applications.
