• The Santa Maria Philharmonic Offers Rare Masterclass Experience...For Free!

    Santa Maria, CA, Nov 12, 2022 As a part of its Music at the Library Series, the Santa Maria Philharmonic will be offering a Masterclass with world renowned Dr. Gwendolyn Mok on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the Santa Maria Public Library.     During this Masterclass, you’ll experience the intense interactions between student and teacher. Three 
    top, award-winning young pianists in the local area; Anya Albright, Holly Hadsell, and Suri Kim, will perform and receive lessons from Master Teacher Dr. Gwendolyn Mok.

    Dr Gwendolyn Mok studied in Paris with Perlemutter a student of Ravel and is known for her extraordinary recordings performed on Ravel’s beloved piano. She attended Julliard, earned a B.A. from Yale and a MM and DMA from SUNY at Stoney Brook where she studied with Gilbert Kalish. She is currently head of the piano area at San Jose State University. The student portion of the program will run from 11am from 1:15pm, after which Dr. Mok will then perform herself starting at 3pm.
