Rachel Lee was born in San Luis Obispo. She is a fourth generation Californian, and she comes from a long line of artists and unconventional characters. Rachel’s mother is a musician and song writer. Her father lived in a sculpture of his own creation. Her grandmother was a painter and archeologist, specializing in the rock art of Easter Island. Her great-great grandmother was a dancer on the Barbary Coast in San Francisco. And Rachel still uses the painting box that traveled with her great-great-great grandmother from Russia to Berlin to San Francisco in the 1850’s.
Rachel worked her way through college in San Francisco as a bartender. She worked as a chef in Italy for ten years. She returned home to the central coast in 2010, and currently lives with her husband, two dogs and six chickens in Orcutt.
Rachel has an art studio called The Loft, located upstairs in the Orcutt Trade Center. She is working on her next collection of paintings, “Feminist Icons.”
