Volunteers Needed for Point in Time Count

The Santa Maria area is in need of volunteers for the annual “Homeless Point-in-Time Count” coming up on Thursday, January 24th.
The Point in Time Count is the annual count of individuals and families experiencing homelessness on a given day.

The homeless count will take place from 5:00 to 8:30 a.m. on January 24th.
View the City’s public service announcement video at https://youtu.be/p0PCub0gleQ.

Teams of trained volunteers will work along assigned routes throughout the City and will briefly document who is experiencing homeless through a survey. Training will take place in Santa Maria and at other locations around Santa Barbara County, and is required for new volunteers.

Information collected from the survey can be used to plan local homeless assistance  systems and raise public awareness.
